Slovak Trade Balance Swings To Deficit In December

Slovakia's trade balance swung to a deficit of EUR 56.6 million in December from EUR 150.9 million surplus in November, data released by the statistical office showed Thursday.

Total export of goods increased by 10.7% year-on-year to EUR 3.21 billion. Total imports of goods amounted to EUR 3.2 billion, the same as in the previous year.

In 2009, compared with 2008, total exports of goods decreased 19.9% to EUR 39.68 billion and total imports of goods by 23.6% to EUR 38.42 billion. The foreign trade balance was in surplus of EUR 1.25 billion.
