Singapore is scheduled to release December numbers for retail sales on Friday, headlining a modest day for Asian economic activity. Analysts are expecting retail sales to add a seasonally adjusted 1.9 percent on month but fall 1 percent on year after adding 1.2 percent on month and falling 1.4 percent on year in November.
Japan will post the results of its consumer confidence survey for January, with forecasts calling for a score of 38 - up slightly from 37.6 in December.
Finally, the stock market in Taiwan is closed on Friday. Taiwan is getting an early start on the Chinese Ney Year break and will be out of action until February 22.
