Romanian Economy Contracts 1.5% In Q4

Romania's National Institute of Statistics said on Friday that the country's gross domestic product slid a seasonally adjusted 1.5% in the December quarter when compared to the September quarter.

Compared to the same quarter of 2008, gross domestic product decreased by 6.6% in the three months through December slightly off expectations for a 6% fall.

The Romanian economy contracted 7.2% in the whole of 2009.
