Romania Consumer Prices Surge In January

Consumer prices in Romania increased 1.7% month-on-month in January, the National Institute of Statistics said on Friday, coming in above analyst expectations for a 1.2% increase.

Food prices increased 0.4% in January while non-food prices surged 3.2%. Services prices increased 0.4%.

On a yearly basis, the consumer price index jumped 5.2% in January - again coming above expectations for a 4.8% rate.
