Japan's consumer confidence rose to 39.4 in January from 37.9 in the previous month, a monthly survey carried out by the Cabinet Office showed Friday. Households' consumer sentiment, at the same time, improved to 39 from December's 37.6. The indicator also stood above the consensus forecast of 38.
All the sub indicators of households' consumer confidence rose from the prior months level. The index for overall livelihood rose to 39.8 in January from 38.2 in December. Income growth stood at 37.9, up from 36.1 in the previous month. Employment and willingness to buy durable goods moved up to 33.1 and 45.3, respectively.
