French manufacturing production fell 0.8% month-on-month in December after downwardly revised increase of 0.8% in November, data released by the statistical office Insee showed Wednesday. Economists had forecast an increase of 0.2%.
On an annual basis, manufacturing output fell 2% in December, slower than the 3.2% decline in November.
Industrial production dropped 0.1% on a monthly basis in December, reversing a 0.6% rise in November. It was expected to rise 0.5%.
Compared to the previous year, there was a fall of 2.3% in December, faster than the 3.8% drop in the previous month.
