The Bank of Finland reported on Monday that the current account balance logged a surplus of EUR 126 million in December, down from the EUR 266 million surplus in the previous month.
The goods account surplus shrank to EUR 99 million in December from EUR 245 million in November, while that in the services account increased to EUR 155 million from EUR 149 million.
The income account balance swung to a surplus of EUR 79 million from a deficit of EUR 135 million. At the same time, the transfers account logged a deficit of EUR 208 million.
The central bank also said that the financial account swung to a EUR 2.41 billion deficit in December from a EUR 1.99 billion surplus in the preceding month.
In the whole of 2009, a current account surplus of EUR 2.40 billion was recorded, representing 1.4% of gross domestic product.
