Tuesday, the Bank of Korea said it will maintain the accommodative policy for the time being and gradually adjust interest rates in future after assessing domestic and global economic conditions, the central bank said in a report submitted to lawmakers.
The central bank also said it will reduce loans extended to small and medium sized firms at low interest rates to curb excess liquidity.
On February 11, the Monetary Policy Committee of the BoK had decided to maintain the base rate at 2%. The MPC added that will maintain the accommodative policy stance for the time being in such a way as to help sustain the trend of recovery in economic activity.
