Turkey Sept. Jobless Rate Rises

Tuesday, the Turkish Statistical Office announced that the unemployment rate stood at 13.4% in September, up from 10.7% a year ago. The number of unemployed persons increased to 3.39 million from 2.6 million last year.

The total number of employed persons increased to 22.02 million from 21.8 million last year.

The statistical office also said that the labor force participation rate stood at 49% in September, up from 47.9% in the previous year.
