Portugal Sees 2009 Budget Deficit Rising To 5.9% Of GDP

Portugal's budget deficit is forecast to rise to 5.9% of gross domestic product or GDP in 2009 from 2.7% of GDP recorded last year, the National Institute of Statistics said on Monday.

Meanwhile, the gross debt of general government is expected to increase to 74.5% of GDP in 2009 from 66.3% of GDP in 2008.
