House prices in New Zealand were up 1% year-on-year in November, faster than the 0.2% rise in the previous month, Quotable Value reported on Monday.
The government agency said that prices were up 4.1% from their low in April but still 5.9% below the market peak of late-2007, while the national average sale price increased to NZ$393,373 in November from NZ$389,198 in October.
Among the main centres, house prices increased 3.1% annually in the Auckland region, while prices in the Wellington area, Christchurch and Dunedin grew 2.9%, 2.8% and 4.1%, respectively. On the other hand, prices showed the largest decrease in Tauranga, down 2.2%.
