Japan's vehicle production dropped 19.1% in October from a year earlier to 820,910 units, the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association or JAMA said Monday. This is the 13th consecutive month of fall in production, although the pace of decline has slowed. In October, vehicle production was down 21.6% on a yearly basis.
During the month, production of cars dropped 17.3%, while that of trucks and buses slumped 29.7% and 24.3% respectively.
Domestic sales of automobiles totaled 396,048 in October, down 4.4% from the same month last year. Similarly, exports of automobiles slipped 34.6% to 376,281 units.
Meanwhile, production of motorcycles dipped 57.5% year-on-year in October, to 51,018 units. Factory shipments were down 27.7% to 25,658 units, while exports dropped 54.6% to 41,143 units.
