Consumer confidence in the Republic of Ireland slid to 53.6 in November from 54.2 in the previous month, the Economic and Social Research Institute reported on Tuesday.
The index measuring consumers' expectation of the financial situation in the next 12 months dropped to 37.7 in November from 40.4 in October. On the other hand, consumers' perception of the current economic situation improved to 77.1 from 74.7.
"Although there was a fractional decline in Irish consumer sentiment in November, the underlying trend continues to improve," noted Austin Hughes at KBC Bank. "Even if consumers here are still anxious about the outlook for the economy and jobs, there are signs that some of the panic that gripped them for the past year or so may be beginning to ease."
