Thursday, Ireland's Central Statistics Office said the current account deficit narrowed to EUR 1.2 billion in the second quarter from EUR 2.03 billion in the same quarter last year.
The merchandise surplus stood at EUR 9.31 billion, the highest in the current series, and was up EUR 3.5 billion from the previous year, the statistical office said. At the same time, the services deficit climbed by EUR 1.25 billion to EUR 2.12 billion and the income deficit rose EUR 1.3 billion to EUR7.78 billion.
