Greece Industrial Turnover, New Orders Drop In August

Greece's industrial turnover dropped 25% on a yearly basis in August, the country's National Statistical Service said Tuesday. A year earlier, in August, orders were up 12.4%.

Mining and quarrying turnover plunged 36.2%, while manufacturing turnover dropped 24.8%. Among the main industrial groups, turnover decreased the most in energy, by 37.9%.

Meanwhile, industrial new orders slipped 29.9% year-on-year in August compared to a 7.5% fall in the previous year. Among the major industrial groups, intermediate goods showed the biggest fall of 33.5%.
