The inflation rate in Great Britain was zero in October, according to survey results released Wednesday by the British Retail Consortium.
The rate was largely unchanged from the September rate of deflation of 0.1 percent, BRC said.
The Shop Price Index showed an inflation rate of 2.5 percent for food items, the second straight month at that rate.
The non-food category reported a drop in deflation from 1.4 percent to 1.3 percent.
"This is a great time to be a customer," said BRC Director General Stephen Robertson. "Overall shop prices are no more than they were a year ago. Food inflation has tumbled by three-quarters since its peak last August and is expected to remain low for the rest of the year."
Robertson noted the price of non-food goods has been deflationary for eleven straight months.
