Monday, the Reserve Bank of New Zealand said the total card billings rose 0.1% year-on-year in August after falling 1.9% in the preceding month. The increase comes after nine months of declines.
Overseas card billings climbed 2.8% on a yearly basis, slower than a 4.4% growth the previous month. At the same time, domestic card billings fell 0.2%, for the tenth consecutive month, following a 2.7% drop in the previous month.
On a monthly basis, total card billings were up 1.6% in August, faster than a 0.2% growth the preceding month.
