The average asking price for a house in the United Kingdom was up 0.2 percent on year in October to 230,184 pounds, property Web site Rightmove said on Monday, marking the first annual increase since June 2008.
That follows a 1.5 percent decline on year in September.
On a monthly basis, home prices were up 2.8 percent after the 0.6 percent gain in September. It marks the largest monthly gain since February 2008 and the largest increase for the month of October since 2003, Rightmove said.
Home prices in London showed the largest increase with a 5.2 percent annual spike and a 6.5 percent monthly increase.
