U.K. Govt. Net Reserves Rise In July

Wednesday, U.K.'s HM Treasury said government net reserves increased US$198 million to US$29.96 billion at the end of July from US$29.76 billion at end-June. At the same time, gross reserves decreased to US$52.51 billion from US$52.64 billion in June.

The Treasury report showed that Bank of England net holdings of foreign currency and gold decreased US$4 million in July 2009 bringing the end-July total to minus US$5 million compared with minus US$1 million at end-June 2009.
