Taiwan's consumer price index or CPI fell 0.86% year-on-year in September after a 0.86% fall in August. Economists had forecast an increase of 0.6%. It was the eighth consecutive decline in the CPI.
On a monthly basis, the CPI was down 0.65%. The core CPI, which excludes volatile items, fell 0.93% year-on-year.
The wholesale price index or WPI fell 0.22% month-on-month and dropped 9.59% over the previous year.
