S. Korea Consumer Price Inflation Rises In August

South Korea's consumer price index or CPI rose 2.2% year-on-year in August, faster than the 1.6% growth in the previous month, the National Statistical Office said on Tuesday. Economists were looking for an increase of 2.1%.

On a monthly basis, the CPI increased 0.4% in August.

Core inflation, excluding oil and food prices, increased 3.1% on an annual basis in August, slower than the 3.2% increase in the previous month.
