S. Africa July Consumer Price Inflation Slows

Wednesday, the Statistics South Africa announced that the consumer price index or CPI rose 6.7% year-on-year in July, slower than the 6.9% increase in the previous month. Economists were looking for an increase of 6.6%.

On a monthly basis, the CPI increased 1.1% in July, faster than the 0.4% growth in the preceding month. The consumer prices in July came in line with economists' expectations.
