Thursday, the Statistics South Africa said in a report that the mining production dropped 11.5% year-on-year in August, reflecting a 12.7% fall in non-gold production and a 2.9% drop in the gold production.
On a monthly basis, the mining production decreased a seasonally adjusted 5.8% in August. At the same time, gold and non-gold production dropped by 2.2% and 6.2%, respectively.
During the June to August period, total mining production fell 4.5% compared to the same period of the previous year.
