Portugal Q2 Jobless Rate Rises

Friday, the Statistics Portugal announced that the jobless rate stood at 9.1% in the second quarter, up from 8.9% in the first quarter. A year ago, the jobless rate was 7.3%.

The number of people unemployed rose 2.4% sequentially in the second quarter and it increased 23.9% annually to 507,700, compared to the 495,800 persons in the previous quarter.

The number of employed decreased by 2.9% year-on-year to 5076,200 in the second quarter and 0.4% fall compared to the previous quarter.
