The volume of manufacturing sales in New Zealand increased in the June 2009 quarter by 1.8 percent over the March quarter.
Statistics NZ reported the seasonally adjusted data on Tuesday.
Lower prices, however, caused the value of manufacturing sales in Q2 to decline by 4.8 percent or NZ$986 million. Statistics NZ said lower meat and dairy prices were the main contributors.
The agency said the trend for the volume of manufacturing sales was flat for the June 2009 quarter following five quarters of decline. The trend for sales value has declined for two straight quarters.
