New Car Registrations Rise In Western Europe: Germany's VDA

Government scrappage schemes boosted new car sales in western Europe for the second straight month in July, the German automobile industry association VDA said Friday.

New car sales rose 5% year-on-year to 1.22 million vehicles in July. During the period from January to July, new car registrations were down 8% compared to the previous year.

In the eastern Europe, new car sales continued to fall. Sales dropped 21% year-on-year
