Tuesday, Malta's National Statistics Office said in a report that the harmonized index of consumer prices or HICP rose 0.8% year-on-year in September, slower than the 1% growth in the previous month. A year ago, the HICP was up 4.9%.
Food and non-alcoholic beverages prices increased 4.7% on an annual basis in September, while clothing and footwear prices dropped 2.7%. At the same time, transport charges were down 4.9%.
On a monthly basis, the HICP dropped 0.2% in September, in contrast to a 0.6% growth in the previous month.
