Visitor arrivals into Macau rose 6.4% in August from a year earlier to 2.62 million, the Statistics and Census Service said Thursday.
Region-wise, arrivals from mainland China, accounting for nearly 50.9% of total arrivals, increased 8.9% year-on-year. Further, visitor arrivals from Hong Kong rose by 2.9%, from Taiwan by 12.6%, and from Japan by 27.1%. On the other hand, arrivals from South Korea dropped 15.4%, and arrivals from Malaysia were down 13.9%.
In the first eight months of the year, visitor arrivals dropped 9.6% from the previous year to 14.2 million.
