Japan's current account surplus was down 19.4 percent on year in July, the Ministry of Finance said on Tuesday, coming in at 1.266 trillion yen. That was below forecasts for a surplus of 1.452 trillion yen following the 1.152 trillion yen surplus in June.
Seasonally adjusted, the current account surplus was 1.159 trillion yen - again below expectations for a surplus of 1.38 trillion yen after the 1.798 trillion yen surplus a month earlier.
The balance of payment trade balance showed a surplus of 437.3 billion yen, up 42.3 percent on year. The unadjusted balance for goods and services reflected a surplus of 149 billion yen, up an annual 78.1 percent.
