Japan is scheduled to release August figures for current account on Thursday, headlining a modest day for Asian economic activity. The current account is expected to show a surplus of 1.148 trillion yen following the 1.265 trillion yen surplus in July. Seasonally adjusted, the current account is expected to show a surplus of 1.171 trillion yen after coming in at 1.159 trillion yen in the previous month. The trade balance is forecast to reflect a surplus of 285 billion yen after the 438.3 billion yen surplus a month earlier.
South Korea will announce money supply data for August, with forecasts calling for an increase of 9.4 percent on year following the 9.7 percent annual expansion in July.
Malaysia will provide August figures for imports, exports and trade balance. Imports are expected to shed 13.1 percent on year following the 16 percent annual contraction in July. Exports are seen down by 17.8 percent on year after the 22.8 percent annual decline in the previous month. The trade balance is expected to show a surplus of 8.94 billion ringgit following the 7.81 billion ringgit surplus a month earlier.
Thailand will announce consumer confidence numbers for the economy in September, with forecasts calling for an index score of 68.6 - up from 67.4 in August.
Finally, China's Shanghai Composite Index continues to observe its National Day holiday week. It will resume trade on Friday.
