Italian Consumer Confidence Rises More Than Expected In August

Italian consumer confidence rose more than expected in August to reach its highest level since March 2007, economic think tank ISAE said Thursday.

The households' sentiment index climbed to 111.8 in August from 107.5 in July, while economists had forecast a slight increase to 107.9.

The indicator for personal economic situation rose to 125, the biggest reading since March 2002, from 118.4. The current economic indicator climbed to 118 from 114.4 and the outlook indicator rose to 104.2 from 100.9. But, the gauge for general economic condition was down to 87 from 87.3.
