Ireland May Trade Surplus Narrows

Wednesday, Ireland's Central Statistical Office said in a report that the trade surplus narrowed to EUR 2.86 billion in May from EUR 3.87 billion in April.

Exports dropped a seasonally adjusted 12% month-on-month in May to EUR 6.8 billion, while imports rose by 1% to EUR 3.98 billion. In April, exports increased 6%, while imports were down 5%.

On an annual basis, exports value rose an unadjusted 8% in May compared to a 7% rise in April, while imports declined 22% compared to a 26% drop in the preceding month.
