Monday, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority announced that the official foreign currency reserve assets amounted to US$223.3 billion at the end of August, up from US$218.1 billion in July. International reserves were at US$158.1 billion a year ago.
Including unsettled forward contracts, the foreign currency reserve assets stood at US$223.3 billion at the end of August versus US$219.8 billion at the end of the previous month.
The latest published figures make Hong Kong the seventh largest holder of foreign currency reserves in the world. Mainland China has the largest reserve holding.
