German Sept. Ifo Business Sentiment Improves Less Than Expected

Thursday, a monthly survey from the Munich-based Ifo Institute for Economic Research showed that German business confidence in September rose to 91.3 from 90.5 in August. The expected reading was 92.

The index measuring current assessment improved to 87 in September, while economists were looking for a reading of 87.7. At the same time, the expectations index stood at 95.7, up from August's 95. The expectations indicator also stood below the consensus forecast of 96.6.
