Wednesday, Germany's Federal Statistical Office announced that the total number of insolvencies increased 0.9% year-on-year to 78,846 in the first half of the year.
Similarly, insolvency courts reported, the business insolvencies increased 14.8% on an annual basis to 16,142 in the first half the year, while consumers insolvencies decreased 2.6% to 48,284.
In June, total insolvencies increased 7% annually to 13,655. At the same time, consumer insolvencies and business insolvencies increased by 4.1% and 15.9%, respectively. The change rates from June 2009 refer to computations with Nordrhein-Westfalen.
