German Adj. Unemployed Unexpectedly Falls In July

The seasonally adjusted number of unemployed in Germany unexpectedly fell 6,000 in July, data released by the Federal Labor Agency showed Thursday. Economists had forecast the number to rise 43,000 after a revised increase for 27,000 in June.

The jobless rate was stable at 8.3%, while it was expected to rise to 8.4%.

On an unadjusted basis, the unemployed increased 52,000 to 3.4 million in July and the jobless rate rose to 8.2% from 8.1%.
