The financial crisis has highlighted the need for many policy reforms, ranging from improving financial regulation to addressing global imbalances, the Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke reportedly said in a Federal conference at San Francisco.
In a welcoming address at the Fed's Asia Economic Policy Conference, Bernanke said the the global financial crisis and the recession of the past two years have challenged policy makers and economists and made them keenly aware of the global linkages between the U.S, Europe and Asia.
Meanwhile, the San Francisco Federal president Janet Yellen speaking at the conference, did not comment on the outlook for the U.S economy or monetary policy measures.
