Czech Jobless Rate Rises In August

The Czech jobless rate rose slightly to 8.5% in August from 8.4% in July, the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs reported Tuesday. The unemployment rate for women was 10.1% and that for men stood at 7.3%.

The number of job seekers registered by job offices in August increased 8,432 to 493,751. Job offices registered altogether 58,402 newcomers, down 11,820 job seekers from the preceding month. At the same time, job offices terminated registration of 49,970 job seekers.
