Monday, the Czech National Bank said the current account deficit widened to CZK 8.45 billion in August from CZK 3.05 billion in July. The surplus in trade in goods and services was offset by deficits in current transfers and income account.
The income account showed a shortfall of CZK 19.64 billion compared to CZK 18.29 billion in July. Meanwhile, the deficit in current transfers increased to CZK 4.89 billion in August from CZK 2.65 billion recorded in the last month. At the same time, the surplus in goods fell to CZK 12.49 billion and that for services rose to CZK 3.59 billion.
