Tuesday, the latest global Manpower Employment Outlook Survey released by Manpower showed that world's labor markets will continued to be challenged in the fourth quarter of 2009. However, employer hiring expectations improved somewhat from the previous three months in nearly two thirds of the nations and territories surveyed.
The survey found that hiring plans were strongest in the emerging markets of India and Brazil. At the same time, hiring sentiments across Europe stayed generally negative, but forecasts improved in nearly half of the nations compared to the previous forecast.
Jeffrey Joerres, chairman and CEO of Manpower said, "Job seekers will still have limited opportunities as our data shows the world's labor markets will not experience recovery in the fourth quarter. The good news is that many markets appear to be heading in the right direction with results from 20 countries and territories showing positive movement from three months ago."
According to the quarterly Manpower Employment Outlook Survey for U.S., employers intend to maintain their staffing level relatively stable in the fourth quarter. The hiring intention of U.S. companies continue to be sluggish. After seasonal adjustment, the Net Employment Outlook becomes minus 3%, the weakest since the survey began in 1962.
