Thursday, the Statistics Sweden announced that the consumer price index or CPI dropped 0.8% year-on-year in August, compared to the 0.9% fall in the previous month. Economists were looking for a decline of 1%.
On a monthly basis, the CPI increased 0.2% in August, marking the same pace as a year ago. Economists expected a decline of 0.1%.
The CPIX increased 1.5% annually in August, faster than the 1.3% growth seen in the previous month. The CPIX was up 0.2%.
Meanwhile, the harmonized index of consumer prices or HICP rose 1.9% year-on-year in August and it was up 0.2% compared to the preceding month.
