Friday, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka said in a report that the trade deficit stood at US$ 1.51 million in the January to July period, narrowing from a US$ 3.53 million deficit a year ago.
Exports decreased 18.9% on an annual basis to US$ 3.84 billion in the January to July period, while imports dropped 35.3% to US$ 5.35 billion.
In July, the trade deficit stood at EUR 260 million, narrowing from US$ 414.8 million last year. Exports and imports decreased by 23.1% and 27.8%, respectively.
