Thursday, the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic said in a report that the consumer price index or CPI rose 1.3% year-on-year in August, slower than the 1.7% growth recorded in the previous month.
Food and non-alcoholic beverages prices fell 5.5% on an annual basis in August, while clothing and footwear prices dropped 1.1%. Transport charges were down 7.2%.
On a monthly basis, the CPI decreased 0.1% in August, after a flat reading in the previous month.
For the January to August period, consumer prices fell 2.2% compared to the same period of the previous year.
The core CPI decreased 0.2% year-on-year in August, in contrast to the 0.2% increase in the previous month. At the same time, the net inflation stood at 1.8% in August, faster than the 1.2% growth in the previous month. Month-on-month, the core CPI dropped 0.2% in August, while net inflation was 0.1%.
