Tuesday, Poland's Central Statistical Office announced that the consumer price index or CPI rose 3.7% year-on-year in August, faster than the 3.6% growth in the previous month. Economists expected an increase of 3.6%.
Food and non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages prices increased 5.6% on an annual basis in August, while clothing and footwear prices fell 7.9%. Transport charges were down 1.8%.
On a monthly basis, the CPI dropped 0.4% in August.
For the January to August period, the CPI increased 3.5% compared to the same period of the previous year.
