Wednesday, the latest Tourism Industry Monitor released by New Zealand's Ministry of Tourism showed that confidence in the tourism industry is returning with optimists slightly outweighing pessimists for the first time since monitor began in March 2009.
Around 44% of respondents believed that demand for tourism products will increase in the coming three months, while 41% said the demand will fall.
"We're cautiously saying, the worst may be over for tourism and things are slowly on the improve," said Bruce Bassett, Ministry of Tourism Research Manager.
