Core electronic card transactions in New Zealand were flat in August, rising a seasonally adjusted 0.1 percent compared to July.
Transactions rose 1.1 percent on month in July.
Statistics NZ reported Wednesday that core transactions in the retail industries sector were similarly flat, rising just 0.2 percent from the month before.
Total transactions for the year to August 2009 were 1.064 billion compared to 1.009 billion for the year to August 2008.
Credit card transactions accounted for 44.8 percent of all NZ transactions for the year to August 2009, the 11th straight month of decline.
Statistics NZ said the average transaction value for the year was about NZ$53 compared to NZ$55 for the preceding year.
