Malta's visible trade deficit narrowed by EUR 29.9 million from the previous year to EUR 132.5 million in July, the National Statistical Office said Friday.
Value of imports dropped EUR 58 million and that of exports fell by EUR 28.1 million to EUR 278.1 million and EUR 145.6 million respectively.
The decrease in imports was mainly due to industrial supplies and fuels and lubricants. Machinery and transport equipment and miscellaneous manufactured articles accounted for the main decline in exports, the statistical office said.
During the first seven months this year, the visible trade deficit contracted by EUR 132.7 million to EUR 720.4 million as import value dropped EUR 436.2 million and export value fell EUR 303.4 million.
