Japan Department Store Sales Due On Friday

Japan is scheduled to release August numbers for department store sales on Friday, headlining a light day for Asian economic activity. Nationwide department store sales were down 11.7 percent on year in July, while Tokyo area department store sales fell an annual 13.4 percent.

The Bank of Japan will publish its monthly report, while the final leading and coincident indexes for July also are due. Finally, Bank of Japan Deputy Governor Hirohide Yamaguchi will speak at the Euromoney Conference in Tokyo.

Thailand is set to release foreign reserves data for the week ending September 11. Forecasts call for an increase of 129 percent on year following the 128.4 percent annual expansion in the previous week.

Finally, Indonesia's Jakarta Composite is closed until Thursday for the Ied Fitr 1 Syawal holiday.
