Indonesia Q2 Economic Growth Slows To 4% From 4.4%

The Indonesian economy expanded 4% year-on-year in the second quarter, slightly slower than the 4.4% growth recorded in the first quarter, the Statistics Indonesia reported Monday. The annual growth rate topped economists' expectations for a 3.8% expansion.

Compared to the first quarter, gross domestic product or GDP rose 2.3%, quicker than the 1.7% increase in the first three months of the year and the 2.1% growth expected.

The economy expanded 4.2% in the first half, compared to the same period of the previous year.
