India's overall monsoon deficiency rose to 21% from the earlier 20%, as the monsoon began withdrawing in the absence of rain in the northwest and central regions, reports PTI, citing meteorological data for the week ending September 17.
The cumulative rainfall in northeast India was slightly improving at the beginning of last week but was minus 32% now. The monsoon was active over Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Himachal Pradesh for a few days, and over Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rayalaseema and South Interior Karnataka for one or two days, it said.
The weather office anticipates withdrawal of the rainfall in the north-west in the next few days. It expects the seasonal rainfall to begin withdrawing from the north-west in the next few days.
